When my daughters were younger, they had such a fun time hunting for Easter baskets. And I remember doing it when I was a girl, too! We always did the whole thing, coloring eggs, decorating a tree outside with plastic eggs. My dad even made his own chocolate covered coconut eggs- something that is a wonderful memory since he recently passed away.

Now that my daughters are all in their twenties and out of the house, I still like to celebrate holidays with them, whether they’re at home or afar.
If they happen to be home for Easter, we work together to make a fabulous dinner, complete with a delicious Easter ham (see my recent post on how to make it). I like to decorate the table using inexpensive but cute Spring plates, cups and napkins. Browse your local Dollar Store!

Since my daughters love baking, they enjoy making a bunny cake to decorate the table. My grandmother made this cake religiously every single Easter. Have you seen these or made them before? Get the Betty Crocker recipe here.
Or, if they’re staying overnight, a fun breakfast for your adult kids to try are these pancakes in the shape of the back of a bunny! I like to replace the childishness of Easter egg and basket hunting with something a little more grown up (less chocolate) but still so cute!

Packages. I have my daughters’ addresses plugged into my Amazon account, and will admit that it makes it SUPER easy to send them little gifts now and then. The ideas and options offered for the holidays are interesting and adorable (see advent calendars I send at Chistmastime).

You can choose something similar to an Easter basket since it has the same feel as a basket but is more suited for older children. For my daughter in college, I like to send an assortment of snacks like chips, Oreos, fruit chews, crackers, etc.
She can share these with her roommates, and the individually wrapped snacks are perfect for taking in a backpack and munching while studying. So these ‘baskets’ have a dual purpose of celebrating Easter and giving her a little smile/pick-me-up to help in studying for finals, which are coming up soon! For my daughter who’s a professional lady in her own apartment with her boyfriend, I like sending something a bit more sophisticated, like some biscotti for breakfasts.
I like to send little ‘thinking of you’ Easter cards like these. I even have some Easter stickers to add a little pop to the envelope. If you donate to non-profits like I do, you might get stickers like these or some seasonal return address stickers that I think make the cards to the girls so festive.

I include a little gift card for Dunkin or Starbucks. I was to happy to find these Starbucks gifts cards-so cute!

A gift card for coffee is one of the best things to send to my daughters- busy college girls and working women can always enjoy more coffee!
If you run out of time or it’s just easier for you, a holiday e-card and/or e-gift card is always fun for them to receive in their inbox. I like that most of them you can schedule to get delivered on a certain day, such as Easter.
Some interesting things adult kids may enjoy, other than coffee, are gift cards to Amazon, Target, Walmart- you really can never go wrong with any stores that have such a huge variety if things and where they can pick out exactly what they want. I’d also think about their local grocery store, gym, or spa. This isn’t a huge holiday for us, so I cap my gifts to a total of $50 if I’m going for this kind of e-gift card.
Flowers Bouquet.

Flowers are another thing where you can’t go wrong, in my opinion. For Spring, some gorgeous tulips maybe? Flowers are a wonderful way to boost your mood, and to receive them for a holiday like Easter is just so special.
Thank you to my husband who always gets them for me! Here we are shopping for our Easter candy a few years ago- ha!

I hope you have a wonderful Easter celebrating with your family, or sending your love and letting them know you hope they have a very special day!
