Since I have three daughters and am NOT a keeper of much ( very much a minimalist)- I wanted to save some memories for my daughters to take with them when leaving my house, but not overwhelm myself either. These are things I’ve saved and kept organized so I could just hand them over to the girls on a special occasion (which hasn’t happened YET, but I’m thinking a wedding?). I have a separate shelf for each child in my home office with these things below, that keeps everything super- organized.

1. Baby Books. I have a unique one of these for each of the girls (I will admit that my oldest daughter’s is the most complete). These books let you keep things like birth announcements, locks of hair, growth charts, foot prints and all those new baby photos. You have a chance to write meaningful things to your children that they will treasure later.

2. Photo Albums. Although we’re in a new age of everything digital, I cannot stress how much my kids LOVE looking at their photo albums. I made sure to have several for each of them, each covering a different age span. I even went through photos on my phone recently and made some new, updated ones for them. It was fun for me and I know that work will be appreciated.

3. Photo Boxes. Keep photos that are duplicates or those you don’t necessarily want to use in a scrapbook in a box for each child. These extra photos come in handy when doing any projects (for school, or making giant numbers with their photos). These boxes are fun to look through as well.

4. “Sayings” Books. I thought my kids were downright hilarious when they were like 3-10 or so- really ALL kids are so funny! I got small notebooks and decorated them with their names. When I thought of it (certainly not every time) and they said these crazy things- I wrote them in the book! They love reading these and laughing their heads off!

5. Memory Boxes. I got these soft ‘chests’ of sorts at TJ Maxx, and have a unique one for each child. In these, I put:
The baby book
The sayings book
Sports letters or trophies
*Christmas ornaments with their names
Unique things like a girl scout sash or poster for sports
Name descriptions- I have one for each
*Framed photos.

* I didn’t put these in the box yet! I’m still enjoying them until the time I’m ready to part with them 🙂

When my children are married (one is actually engaged now), I plan to give them all their baby books, scrapbooks, and special ornaments, so they can hang them on their own Christmas trees!
